Sanitary Tubing Specifications
ASME-BPE compliant SFT1 through SFT6 stainless steel sanitary tubing and fittings are produced in accordance with the requirements of ASTM A270-S2 and the newest ASME-BPE standard for manufacturing process, testing, tolerances and surface finishes. Tubes are bright annealed and rapidly quenched in accordance with the specifications. WinTech carry’s seamless products 1/16” through 2” and welded sizes 1” through 8”, as well as metric and DIN sizes.

Chemical Composition
Our sanitary tubing is available in alloys 304/304L and 316/316L. All 316/316L tube is supplied with a sulfur content of .005 - .017% as specified in ASTM A270, Supp. S2.1.1. for welded tubing and the sulfur content for seamless is .005 - .012%.

Mechanical and Electropolished finishes available
Electropolishing is an electrochemical method where a surface layer of approximately 20µm is removed. The removal primarily takes place on the tops of the micro profile.

The austenitic structure appears in a very clean condition. The surface has a bright and shiny appearance.

The technical advantages with electropolishing are summarized below:

- Metallurgical cleanliness
- Less friction
- Improved corrosion resistance
- Reduced surface area
- Easy cleaning

Electropolishing of stainless steel started at the end of the 1960´s
As the methods were more and more developed the interest from the industry grew. Today electropolishing is a well-developed, advanced and established method for creating a smooth and metallurgical clean surface.

Microbiologically cleanliness and particle control is of greatest importance and absolute necessary in several industrial fields e.g.; Semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing and biotechnology. The demand on process cleanliness with regards to analysis and process gases, water for injection (WFI), chemicals and products within these industries has played a major role.
